The olympic games - new security budget announced

Let me get this clear from the start. I have absolutely no interest in London 2012. The Olympic Games should be about people running faster than anyone else, throwing things further than anyone else and jumping higher than anyone else AND NOTHING ELSE! Added to that it is a historical fact that no country or city has come out of them with any degree of financial success. Indeed some host nations are still paying off their debts from years ago. Therefore I am appalled to see that the security budget has been increased to £580 million. Why are we wasting the money. Think how much real good could be done. GIVE IT TO CANCER RESEARCH. The only real justification is to stop arsehole terrorists coming over here in the belief they can do what they want. But it would be cheaper just to keep the Irish out of the UK during the games! Although with the reduction in immigration checks that might not be as easy as it sounds.
