Greed and how to price yourself out of a niche market

The SCD judging panel
It looks rather as if my television viewing might be spoiled towards the end of the year. One of the pleasures of Strictly Come Dancing has been that it has occupied a little quirky corner of it's own. Of course it has inevitably become less so with the spotlight of celebrity turned upon it. What a joy it would have been if the contestants had been confined to fading actresses and scarcely remembered cricketers.
Now it seems that the greed and inflated egos of minor celebrities and soap stars has infected even the judging panel and they are renegotiating their contracts with the BBC. The reason is that they have caught sight of the fees being paid to the judges on another talent show - the probably inferior The Voice.
While Len Goodman (second from left in the pic) is undoubtedly an amiable chap who is completely competent in assessing heel leads and ganchos and while Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli (far left and right respectively) also represent good value for money, no one could ever say that their earning power has ever been equal to that of Tom Jones for example. And yet all three have signalled their lack of satisfaction with their £90,000 fees.
For goodness sake guys, you are an aging ballroom hack and a couple of camp hoofers who have each been given a second and unexpected lease of life. Be thankful for it and don't price yourself out of the market.
