Personally I've always used a Jimmy Carr avoidance scheme

And I don't need an offshore base to do it. I just switch my telly to another channel where I don't have to listen to his very annoying laugh. But that doesn't mean that I have no sympathy with his current situation.

The real hypocrisy here comes mostly from the people who are criticising and doing the name calling. After all, it's not tax evasion - it's tax avoidance. And which one of us would not avoid a bit of tax if we could? I'll bet that there is not a single self-employed person in the country who has not told the odd porky about his expenses.

No, the person who comes out of this once again with egg all over his lying, hypocritical face is David Cameron who inherited a substantial sum of money from his father in an offshore fund. And David Cameron who cannot close this kind of tax loophole because it will cost his friends so much money and undo the work, favouring the wealthy, that he has been doing with the recent budget. Just imagine how many Tory party supporters he would lose as a result!

So, Jimmy Carr, please don't apologise. In any case you've been been doing this for two or three years now and calling it an 'error' while offering an apology sounds a little hollow and as if you only did it by mistake. No just change your scripts a little and make fewer jibes about large corporations and fatcat city bonuses. Or will that leave you with no material at all? Oh dear!

Having said that I will watch the next showing of 8 Out Of Ten Cats with some interest in spite of my utter aversion to 'lager comedy'
