And for once it wasn't because of some stupid grammatical or factual error.
I've often sniggered smugly when I've seen people, usually women I have to say, carrying weighty bottles of water wherever they go and swigging from them at any opportunity.
When the fad started in the 1980s and 90s, I suspected that it was just a marketing ploy by mineral water bottlers and that the suggested 2 litres per day was totally ridiculous. After all it no account was taken of the water content of tea, coffee and beer. Or indeed of other beverages and foodstuffs.
Of course I know that it must be of benefit to replace most of one's fluid intake with pure water but I wonder how many poor fools have completely knackered their kidneys through overwork.
