#scd #itt In week five Deborah Meadon's prop heavy waltz leads to an early bath

As usual the better the market leaders perform, the saggy bottoms at the other end become more exposed. Deborah Meadon was in the dance-off against Patrick Robinson whose plaster cast arm seemed to be doing a fair impression of a facist salute. In spite of the handicap I don't think he should have been there. He managed a lively salsa and even a tricky one armed lift. However the voting public showed little sympathy and he was only saved by the judges. I suspect that Deborah's surprising and rather lengthy use of a metal gurney at the start did not help her in any way.
The betting market has pretty well polarised now with the 3 favourites all ladies. And I don't think it is worth considering anybody outside the top four.
This weeks betting market:

Natalie Gumede Very convincing and exciting Samba. She has got rather lovely legs I must say. Firmed up at 7/4 and I rather suspect she could be evens next week barring accidents. Time to consider a small profit maybe.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor A disappointingly weak cha cha cha in which I could detect not a glimmer of a story and she seemed hardly there at all. I cannot understand why she maintains second fav and it must simply be that she is more popular than Clancy. 7/2

Abbey Clancy I suppose I would like her more if only she would keep her mouth firmly closed at all times. 6/1 which effectively shuts her out of the running.

Ashley Taylor-Dawson Actually I don't see why he has dropped out to 8/1. A lively jive which included a surprisingly light and accurate leap over Ola. Although talking of Ola chops, I did see her off balance at one point.

Susanna Reid gave a rather inelegant American smooth. Out of contention at 10/1. Kristina may have spent too much time on some prop stairs at the beginning of her quickstep with Ben Cohen who has now slipped as low as 25/1.
Patrick Robinson see above comments. 80/1. Mark Benton's waltz was a pleasure to watch. A touching and well acted story line, danced with feeling. Deserves to be better than 100/1.
Oh dear, Rachel Riley is such a disappointment to me. Her oddly gothic looking paso with it's inconsistent storytelling left me and the judges cold. 100/1 is probably quite generous now. I think what I enjoy most about Dave Myers is what he does to Karen Hauer. Realistically he is a crap dancer but he gives Karen so much fun that it will be a real shame when he goes. He has been what Saturday night's entertainment should be all about. 125/1. Fiona Fullerton gave a fabulous performance and the 30 points is totally inconsistent with her price of 200/1.
Deborah Meadon She's out!
