Having been found guilty at the third time of asking, two of the killers of Stephen Lawrence have today been sentenced to minimum sentences of fourteen and fifteen years. The reduced tariff is said to be due to the fact that they were juveniles at the time of the murder. Surely if that is really relevant then they should serve their time in a young offenders institution.
No, they showed no sign of remorse nor did they plead guilty at the time of their previous trials so why should they be treated as juveniles? Let them do hard time as adults now.
There is talk of the government introducing laws similar to the drink driving laws for drivers under the influence of drugs. In other words setting a statutory maximum level. Eh??? Surely any amount is dangerous? Are they really suggesting that it may be okay to smoke one joint but not two? Snorting one line but not two. Are they completely insane?
