Watching Lewis struggle with a box full of neutrals on lap 23 of the Singapore GP made me feel quite ill. A DNF at this stage of the year has made it unlikely that he will be able to catch Alonso. Which means that the slippery Spaniard has more than likely been gifted the laurels in 2012.
What causes me almost as much despair is the revelation that McLaren knew about the gearbox fault during yesterday's practice and chose to try to work with the existing box rather than accept a penalty for changing the box. They would still have been in a position to collect some points. Which means that it was yet another costly error of judgement at McLaren.
I also noticed that during a post race interview team boss Martin Whitmarsh kept tugging at his left ear lobe. This kind of body language instantly arouses my suspicions.
