The Mail Online journalist's tenuous grasp of the English language.

I criticise the Daily Mail a lot but, of course, I realise that so many errors can be put down to the lack proofreading and silly typos. But I simply cannot excuse sheer ignorance on the part of their journalists in that way.

In an item in today's edition under this headline:....
......journalist Matt Blake goes on to list various racial categories in GQ's Sexiest Women of the 21st Century poll including:
Sexiest Chinese Chick', 'Sexiest Indian Chick' and, most tenuous of all, 'Sexiest Pregnant Sri Lankan'.

Personally I see nothing racist in this at all. After all if someone is of Indian ethnicity then they are Indian and that is a plain fact and an attempt to argue with it is just sophistry and PC crap.

But what I find utterly unforgivable is the use of tenuous in the phrase 'most tenuous of all'. Tenuous means very weak or slender, as in a 'tenuous connection'.

Matt Blake obviously intended to say 'dubious' or somesuch but has a rather TENUOUS grasp of the English language.
