I'm really not convinced that Susie Wolff's credentials measure up to the kind of media hype she is receiving at present. In fact I'm not even sure that she merits the place as a development driver which she currently holds with the Williams team.
She has applied for a place on the next young drivers test which may be a trifle inappropriate for Susie as she is now 30 yrs old. Not to be unkind but even male drivers who have had a lifetime of experience of race driving are generally past their best in their mid to late thirties.
Admittedly I know nothing at all about the scoring and ranking system of DTM racing which is where Susie has been since her karting days apart from a couple of years in Formula Renault single seaters. I can find traces of only a couple of actual wins and a bare handful of podium finishes to her name. According to Wikipedia (for what it's worth) she seems to have only managed 4 points in the DTM series for 2010.
I don't see how that meagre record entitles her to vie for a racing seat in 2014. Unless of course you count the fact that her husband is Toto Wolff who is an executive director of Mercedes AMG Formula One Team and a shareholder in Williams F1.
Susie Wolff may be "the fastest woman in the world" but there aren't many currants in that particular bun.
