The BBC falls off the political fence again and shamefully displays its pink knickers

BBC Disrespect
It never ceases to disappoint me how hypocritical the BBC can be!
Their music shows constantly censor lyrics which in their nannying opinion might offend listeners and the TV channels reschedule programmes which might be watched by 'traumatised' victims of major incidents and crimes. And yet they insist on broadcasting a clip of a blatantly offensive song promoted purely with the intent of offending relatives of the late Baroness Thatcher.

This is what the BBC's Radio 1 controller Ben Cooper said on his blog about the clip due to air on the chart show tomorrow:

I find the campaign to promote the song in response to the death of Baroness Thatcher as distasteful as anyone. I acknowledge there is understandable anger from people who are appalled by this campaign.

The show cannot ignore a high new entry which clearly reflects the views of a big enough portion of the record-buying public to propel it up the charts.

To ban the record from our airwaves completely would risk giving the campaign the oxygen of further publicity and might inflame an already delicate situation.

What a load of egregious crap!

The BBC is apparently also concerned about 'freedom of speech' But in the record books of history it's ONLY music charts and not really that important.
A brief statement that "a record called something or other reached whatever place in the download charts this week" would suffice and cover the situation more than adequately.

Of course I know that the BBC has a left wing bias and so this kind of thing should not come as a surprise but I, for one, find it extremely offensive and deeply annoying.
