We could have had a war instead of the Olympic games

Olympics Minister Hugh Robertson, who is the idiot responsible for spending £9 billion of our money on the games, says that:
'We are in the process of delivering the largest logistical exercise outside a major war and we have done it on time and under budget, and that’s a fantastic calling card for this country.’
Well no, actually, it's not any kind of a calling card unless other countries are going to ask us to spend their money for them. Which of course they're not.
A sensible little war would have been a far better investment. Think of all the servicemen and women who would not be facing redundancy and of all the defence contractors who would not be closing factories.

A decent little war would have all sorts of economic advantages
