The highs and lows of Strictly's Halloween Special

The highs of Strictly Halloween
I think I'm becoming bored with Strictly Come Dancing this year. Maybe it's old age but the only "high" I could see on Saturday was Louis' high score. Although I can see that he is a budding talented dancer, I still cannot find any chemistry between him and the utterly gorgeous Flavia. Chemistry is such an important part of the storytelling and possibly that is why I think he is being overmarked. Craig called his performance this week "ineffable" which I sort of get though I'm not sure if it's what Craig actually meant.

The low point for me was the elimination of Sid Owen, mainly because it means the loss of my each way bet on him for a place. He was in the dance off with Colin Salmon and, to be honest, I'd rather watch Colin dance than Sid - betting considerations aside.

My reason for supporting Sid was, of course, because the lovely Ola is such a good choreographer that she could make a dead cod look good on the dance floor. But she just doesn't seem to have her eye on the ball this year - maybe because of her mother's illness. Or maybe Sid just didn't inspire her at all.
Those rather sad beige jumpsuits didn't help much this week either.

And that's another low point - not so much Ola for the rest of the series!

I've really had enough of the theme nights - two in a row is too much. They don't show the celebs at their best - certainly not so early in the series. And I just don't see the connection between Halloween and Scooby Do (Dani Harmer) or the camp corrida (Richard Arnold) for instance.

THE BETTING AS IT STANDS

Louis Smith:
My win bet is still looking good so I may be able to eat at Christmas
Currently: shortening in to 11/8 in a place.

Denise van Outen:
Not really shortening as much as you'd expect. She may be losing out in the charisma stakes.
Currently: 10/3 with Coral

Kimberley Walsh:
She's popular but I find her performances bland and uninteresting in the main
Currently: 4/1 generally

Lisa Riley:
Very energetic but I don't think people of her weight can ever look graceful on the dance floor and she does nothing for me in any way.
Currently: best price 12/1 with Sky Bet.

Now that I no longer have an outsider each way bet I have no interest in the rags.
