When they know perfectly well - or at least they should know, bearing in mind the amount of money they spend telling us about it - that the weather is absolute shit. And we're all indoors wanting to watch the television except there's bugger all on worth watching. I think tonight is the fourth this week when there has not been a single thing I consider worth the electricity to watch. Tonight it's the turn of The White Queen on BBC - billed as 'a major new drama series' when in fact it's just another lame excuse to cast a bunch of lame and rather too young men in frilly shirts in order to entice a female audience. Of course it is also full of historical inaccuracies (for example; when were zips invented? And I actually saw a house with concrete steps). Of course the BBC claim it to be a 'reimagining of history'. I just wish they would reimagine it on someone else's momey.
I have been trying to watch The Returned but I've lost track of the plot now. Far too much time shifting for an easily confused old fart like me. Thank god for digital recording!
Of course I'll have a bash at Big Brother just to take the piss out of it on Twitter. To be honest, Twitter has been far more enjoyable than television of late.
The things that puzzle and piss me off about the times in which we live. And occasional thoughts on the most engrossing sport in the world - Formula One

Surprisingly few people have any understanding of betting odds #BBUK
My attention was caught by a headline in my local paper stating that the utterly demented 'Wolfy' is the bookie's favourite to win big brother. Having taken a successful flutter on this event in the past I thought I'd see what is going on in the market this year. On looking at the available prices I saw that 'Wolfy' is, in fact, priced out with the rags - where she undoubtedly belongs - at 12/1 with Sam and Dan (I don't know which is which) at 5/1 apiece and the Essex chav Sophie at 6/1.
Whoever wrote the article in the local paper must be an absolute gift to bookmakers everywhere!

Celebrity Big Brother and the new meaning of celebrity #cbb
It has been apparent for a number of years that when the press refers to a celebrity it means someone you have probably never heard of but who would like to be a celebrity. The Mail Online gave me a bit of a snigger in this regard today when it said that:
I was only watching out of curiosity because I couldn't understand why Frankie Dettori is taking part. Champion jockeys have bounced back from public scandals before, think of Lester Piggott and Kieron Fallon.
Anyway I obviously know who Frankie Dettori is
Rylan Clark: Well I knew the name of course, and I don't really care if I never see him again. But it's significant that he's not relying on his X Factor win to bring him success.
Claire Richards: Never heard of her.
Razor Ruddock: Heard of him but I thought he was a boxer for some reason.
Paula Hamilton: Yep I remember her.
Lacey Banghard: Nope means nothing.
Ryan Maloney: Doesn't ring a single bell here.
Sam Robertson: Nope.
Tricia Penrose: Supposed to have been in Coronation Street but I don't recall her.
Spencer Pratt: Nope.
Heidi Montag: Thought at first she was the Holywood madam, but no.
Gillian Taylforth: I remember that she was caught in a compromising oral position in a Range Rover somewhere or other.
So that's 75% I either have no idea about or incorrectly recalled which seems to prove what I said about the real meaning of celebrity nowadays.
Anyway I see that Rylan Clark is at very short odds to win already which chimes with the substantially gay viewer proportion and makes him a very poor value bet. He's too short even to justify 'dutching' him with anybody else. No bet.
some viewers under 40 may not recognise some of the facesYeah well let me say that some viewers OVER 40 may not recognise them either.

I hope Lord McAlpine sues the awful @SallyBercow into a Dickensian level of poverty.
Not just because of her recent error of judgement concerning the Tory peer but because it typifies her selfish and persistent self-aggrandising, anything for publicity attitude.
In a strange way I can appreciate her desire not to be streotyped by her husband's job and if she were a vicar's wife I might be more understanding. But The Speaker of the House of Commons is a serious job which requires and deserves a bit of respect.
Admittedly he doesn't do the job very well and, indeed, shows it little respect either. But that is not the point.
Sally Bercow's behaviour with the appalling and illiterate piece of dross Paddy Docherty, during and after her shameful appearance on Celebrity Big Brother, should really have dragged her and her husband out of the public arena and into the pit of obscurity. Which is where they both belong and perhaps now they will get their overdue reward.

Thnk you Julian Clary for winning #cbb and helping me pay for my gin this week
That sounds wrong I know but the fact is that I had a small bet with Ladbrokes at 11/8 last week and he has justified my confidence in him.
He thoroughly deserved to win and I thoroughly deserve the bottle of gin or two. Cheers!

How is a girl supposed to earn a living without her morals being questioned?
This is the contact page from Danica Thrall's website. She was evicted last night from the Celebrity Big Brother house amidst boos from a crowd that would not have seemed out of place at the guillotine, and a lot of really nasty name calling.
Danica's unpopularity is mainly based on her so-called rinsing techniques used to persuade men to send her gifts from her Amazon wish list.
I have not visited her webcam so I don't know what her verbal techniques are like but her wish list has a very low visibility on her contact page. If you really want visitors to click on a link you put it right on the front page rather than one click back and certainly put it higher up and make it stand out far more. The black arrow is mine by BTW.
Danica was called a whore by the fruit loop Jasmine Lennard and immoral by the awful Coleen Nolan. But I cannot see how such a low key web site could offend even the most delicate of social mores. It seems to me that she is doing very little to encourage men to send her gifts and if they want to do so then it is entirely up to them.
She was also accused of manipulating the affections of Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino and Prince Lorenzo Borghese. But Sorrentino openly boasts of his sexual conquests while the prince is a successful business man who must also be well used to advances from women.
It's all just pathetic jealousy if you ask me. But the trouble is that, Danica's eviction, has left me with no reason to watch CBB any further other than to keep an eye on my small bet at 11/8 on Julian Clary to win. And I don't really have much confidence in it because he seems to be keeping his barbed wit under wraps for some reason best known to himself.
The last word should go to the fact that, since being on CBB and therefore totally incommunicado with the outside world, Danica has received £6000 worth of gifts from her wish list. Now that cannot possibly be considered as even E-whoring.
